GUEST LECTURE
Creating a Winning M&A
May 4th (Tuesday)
9.40-11.00 h
Salthouse Building - Auditorium III.
The field of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) has greatly expanded over the past half
century. The forces behind this wave of activity include technological change, impacting
every industry; the globalization of competition and its increased intensity produced
deregulation in airlines, financial services, telecommunications and even traditional
industries. The ways of doing business will continue to change and evolve. The forms of
competition will continue to multiply and the intensity of competition will continue to increase.
This guest lecture to be given by Joy Chan, seeks to share insights into the role of M&A in
today’s economy. We will draw upon recent high profile M&A activity in the automotive
industry as real world cases illustrating how M&A can be used or misused in furthering a
corporation’s goal.
